  That's a lovely scene, beautifully painted.  I can sense heat in this one.

  Thanks, @PaulB. Yes, I painted this view a couple of years ago from a slightly different vantage point. It's the view from the top of the range of hills behind our place
  It was this summer. Very hot and dry. I liked the golden fields against the purple hills.  And the short shadows.
  Still a bit to do yet.

  Very beautiful:) As always I like your abstraction in painting trees and grass which maintain a very realistic effect.

  I'm glad it "looks like" I painted every blade of grass even though I didn't.  There's a lot of abstraction happening there (as @Bobitaly mentioned) - like in the video where Mark paints the hair of a poodle. If I had to paint every blade as per the source I'd still be at it when death or doomsday intervened.

  Thanks, @Boudicca and @MichaelD. I'm glad folks think it works.  I have to drive into Hobart on Tuesday to take pictures into the galleyy and to pick up and drop off paintings at the framer's so, unless anyone here has a critique to make me think this is so bad as to be unsaleable,  I'll take it with me.  I trust you guys.

  It's pretty bad, Rob. Instead of throwing it away, why don't you send it to me and I'll dispose of it for you by hanging it on my wall with the trashy curtains and other ugly pictures.

  @oilpainter1950, can't be Texas... there are no bullet holes in the posts! 
  
   March or April would have been better for Texas anyway. Then the Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush wild flowers would be in bloom along the roadside covering up the beer cans.

  Thanks very much, @anweasha. It would be great if nature just presented us with perfect compositions but it rarely, if ever, does. To get this one I had to shift the posts a bit and move a mountain or two.  I hope it still captures the feel of the place.

  Fantastic! Reminds me of the Stanford hills where I grew up in California. Looks hot and dry. I especially love the way the road defines the topography. Do you have rattle snakes?

  Thanks, @Kodiakwood.   It's a similar climate to northern California here. No rattlesnakes - but three other species here including the tiger snake which is among the world's most venomous.
