Head study in oils (young girl)

This head study of a girl was painted some days ago on a small piece of canvas sheet, 12" x 16" to be exact. I don't particularly enjoy painting on canvas not mounted on a wooden frame, but I also don't enjoy wasting canvas so I used this loose piece for this head study. Getting the right light effect was probably the more difficult part of making this painting, for me anyway. I hope I am not boring DMP members with these head studies, but I have always felt a strong interest in portraiture and the challenges it presents. I'm hoping to begin focusing on more complete figure studies and still life in the near future. All comments are welcome and appreciated. Thanks!
