A Lead pencil has no lead. Pencil cores are a mixture of graphite and clay. More graphite in the softer B grade pencils. Before pencils were manufactured tradesmen and others marked up their work with a bar of lead, leaving a grey line. Naturally, pencils were called lead pencils.
Water colours are made from natural and chemically synthesised pigments.
If you look at the way he selects words in his questions, he already knows the answers. I think he wants to confirm what he thinks he already knows so he doesn't embarrass himself by asking really ignorant questions--the ones he doesn't know the answers to. It also appears that English is not his native language. imho
Does he think we were all born before pencils were invented? The "lead" pencil (which contains no lead) was invented in 1564 when a huge graphite (black carbon) mine was discovered in Borrowdale, Cumbria, England. The pure graphite was sawn into sheets and then cut into square rods. The graphite rods were inserted into hand-carved wooden holders, forming pencils. ...and geese gave a sigh of relief as no longer were so many of their feathers were needed to make quill pens.
@PaulB you're always coming up with things or words that are in somewhat scary to me. Our play ground for kindergarten and first graders was next to such a place. When there were no animals in the pens we use them as a shortcut to the playground. The cows walk in but never walk out. I found the disturbing for a long time until I worked in one for a summer. We never got around to boiling skulls though.
You are too young @PaulB, to have seen the original (War of the Worlds) on the big screen. By big screen I mean a drive in movie. If you had you would know why this is a little freaky.
