Picasso Reproduction with a modern twist

 I left the galleries and a lot of posting about a year ago and have mostly been developing my own style. I am calling contempocubism because of the modern take on cubism. I wanted to share a recent reproduction of a  famous Picasso painting which was stolen and presumed destroyed. "The pigeon and the Peas" is one of my favorite abstracts and this was done with 100% repect for the artist. The painting took about 6 months to complete averaging a few hours a day.

Yes been using his techniques for a few years and started to need a change and something more my own.

Welcome back. I was never a fan of Picasso or abstracts for that matter but your rendition is colorful and stands as a new piece. I wouldn't call it a reproduction so much as an homage inspired by Picasso. What happened with the Da Vinci?

This is really an amazing way to represent cubism. Cubism itself is a way to represent modernism. But everything becomes old someday!

@werby the 70% I would buy, the finished piece I would not,..it is a great tip of the hat  to Pablo,..who was after all a magpie of previous artists, and very well painted - cubism,,,blueism,...names given by critiques that don't paint,,,

Funny. I had several people offer to buy the griselle. I had a website called contempocubism.com but am in the process of moving to a new provider. 

When it is online will share.

These are two completed oils which got me started. I am still in discovery mode and enjoying building from scratch.

Keep at it, @Weby. I love your paintings. You have a fine sense of colour and design. Realism/abstraction is not an either or dichotomy -  a painting is a real object in it's own right and your realism is as real as any other object d'art.

Fine experimental pieces but as I said before, I'm not a fan of the genre. the colors are rich and attractive and you seem to have a flair for design but for my taste, I find them a little too "cartoonish". Visit @Kaustav 's website. Despite my prejudices against abstracts, I think his are very compelling.

I have always been a fan of Kaustav’s works and especially his versatility. I like the description as cartoonish because as far back as I can remember drawing cartoons was how I spent my days. The real importance to me is the style is mine and will grow with me. I found myself in a gallery situation painting what other people thought they wanted and was never really happy or inspired. I really do like the fact that my style will not be accepted by a lot of people and like to see artists like you post truthfully.

20 years to retire and iron out the kinks.

You mentioned you do glazing and the paintings take quite a long time to finish. What effect does the glazing have on paintings like these?
