Blue issue

I just can not seem to get to this blue with Geneva oil - maybe I am having a "blue day"  - I have tried blue and cooling down with a spot of white, ..no, no, I have tried pure white and and warming up with a tiny spot of blue, no , no  - any ideas would help - thanks

It looks blue green, so you may need a slight touch of Pthalo Blue. Ultramarine leans towards red. Still you should be able to get there with white and yellow I would have thought..

Also, I do not make big puddles of paint like Mark does (for these), I do not see the point for what is basically a color value in 5 or 6 spots the size of an atom!

Rather than starting with ultramarine, try pure phthalo and white and use tiny amounts of ultramarine to tone it down if necessary. Might have some yellow in it too.

I do not have the Geneva phthalo - but I can get a W&N tube today and try that

I agree with @ CJD above. I am aware of Phthalo Blue/Red shade and Phthalo Blue/Green shade. Phthalo Blue/Green shade would have got you there. But you should get along well with what you already have.

@Alsart: Phthalo are perhaps the strongest tinting pigments available, so you could probably just use winton..

Thanks all I will update with progress - I have been rather good with color mixing over the past few months but now and again a curve ball comes at you.

 That blue requires phthalo blue.  The Geneva one is great.

@PaulB - I will pick up a small W&N tube to get by now, and he next time I re-order I will add the power colors, but I have enough paint for the next year I think, DMP process does not use a lot, and any left over goes into to my abstract efforts - thanks

A small tube of phthalo is enough for a good long time.

That is a tint of cerulean blue.

Phthalo should do the trick. Cerulean would also do it but very expensive and quite weak as a mixer.

@alsart you have to use any of the following to get to it. Pthalo or prussion blue. You cannot reach that intensity with ultramarine white and yellow.

one value I am almost spot on, but the other needs pthalo for sure

Well I got the power colors and got to where I needed, thanks everyone - the power blue sure is strong,..

Using pthalo or Prussian needs some control and skill. They are like pollutants. I am at present using only prussian (probably made out of pthalo blue) because I ran out of all the blues. One touch more and the other colors are gone! use just a drop of these colors. One advantage though is that I use lesser than any other color.

@Kaustav I hear what your saying,  the number 4 value was the one I really needed and this took the longest too get too as I just added too much and it went way of range, I started again and added the smallest amount I could and hey presto,....aqua blue,...
