Thank you Dencal.....this is good considering the speed. Have you any serious work posted? Although if I could do that, I would call it serious. Have attached pencil work but its blended rather than five pencil method, which I don't think gives as good a finish. ..I draw as I go along by looking at shapes and relative positions...I think I could use this method with pastel now i know what to use....but how do you keep it so clean.

Welcome to the Forum.
Have a try at drawing on newsprint with hard and soft pastel.
Denis
Hard pastel;
Example;
A1 on newsprint, using one hard pastel, shading blended with disposable wipe, forty minute sketch of studio model in natural light.
Soft pastel
Used for serious work that will be fixed and framed for the wall. May take days to complete.
i have no use for oil pastels, don't like crude, non mixable, non blend able textures.

Beautiful piece of work Kim.
Clean? When working on a vertical easel the only thing that needs to touch the paper is the pastel, the blending cloth and a putty rubber.
Only starts to get messy when working horizontally or when using fingers to blend.
Essential equipment in any mode of pastel or charcoal drawing is a pack of wet wipes.
