Gloss medium

If my acrylic paint is dry and the colour changes a bit, can I use a gloss medium to bring it back like Mark did with linseed oil?

I think that an oiling out or a gloss varnish will make acrylic dark values darker. This may improve the appearance. Never seen it done. Interesting.
