Mixing paper glue with oil

Hello my name is Zyad. I want to know if i can use glue mixed with water to stick paper on to a primed or oil primed canvas to create texture and then oil paint over it once it drys, without ruining or hindering the oil paint properties? I hope someone can get back to me on this issue, kind regards Zyad.
