All computers will be annoying, but I would probably recommend an iMac for you. It's all-in-one, has a good display, and while it will still undoubtedly frustrate you at times, banging your head against an Apple is better than banging your head against Windows. In my experience doing tech support for people who aren't tech-savvy, it's much, much easier when the person requesting support has a Mac.
I don't want to get into a big argument about Mac vs PC here. I use and hate both.
@billj I would recommend the $1,299 one, not the $1,099 one. It will last longer and is a good bang-for-buck (as far as Apple products are concerned). You definitely don't need the more expensive ones unless you have money to burn or someone else is picking up the tab (in which case get the 27-inch $1,999 model).
The $1,099 is pretty significant drop in specs compared to the $1,299 model. When they offer pre-installed programs and insurance and that kind of crap when you are customizing the options, don't bother with any of it. If you're unsure about something, hold off on the purchase and shoot me an email at [email protected] and I can send you a step-by-step.
