linseed oil removal

I've made the mistake of covering over an old oil painting - 20 years old - with some new repairs, with linseed oil.
Now the painting is discolored (yellow) and there's a low spot twhere the oil has dried and wrinkled. My question? How do I remove the linseed oil? Thanks for your advice! Ruby

Test a small inconspicuous area with a soft cloth and turpentine. If that works proceed over the rest of the surface. Gentle and careful are the watchwords. The danger is that the paint may start to lift. If the cloth starts to show color, stop. The least amount of turps possible is the best approach.

Leave the painting in the sun for a few days to harden and dry the surface.
