So here is my latest painting, which was another rose from our former Iowa garden. I think this will be my last flower for a while. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks. Ralph
Thank you Kingston and Bas, especially for showing the the examples side by side. In reality the pedals have more a pink color than a purple color, but I am not able to get that exact with my photographic skills. I will let the painting completely dry and then see if a slight pink glazing and light orange yellow on those spots you pointed out will help. At this time, I would like to have my paintings a photographic / realistic quality about them, however, not a hypo photographic one, even though I highly admire those individuals who can do that. Thanks again for your insights.
May I add, there comes a time when the piece is finished. When I was doing my sculptures I would find this or that to fix if I kept going fixing there would be no carving left, I would have fixed it till there was no material left. My wife was the answer, she would say " Its finished , call the client " I love roses. Some of my roses.
Wow!! I wish I could paint as well you sculpt those wooden roses. The big round one is my favorite, but all are well done. Very good - hats off! I hope you are able to sell a lot of them. Ralph
Thank you, all these carvings are sold. just have a few high end sculptures for sale. All my efforts now are to improve my painting skills. By the way the big rose (48" ) and the dozen small ones are for the same client. (love that women)

Love it! Darks are great, setting off the bloom beautifully and nice edge work. In this photo the highlights seem subdued ?
