Folks
I have rescued this link from the old TCM Forum. Excellent instruction.
This link is to free downloads of a fantastic set of drawing instruction books by the artist Andrew Loomis.
If you only download one book make it "Figure Drawing for all its Worth".

Grazie Maria
There are no more free downloads on that website of Andrew Loomis' books.
But found them elsewhere:
- http://www.alexhays.com/loomis/ - 6 books
- http://www.saveloomis.org/ - "Due to a cease-and-desist letter from the current copyright holders of the Loomis books I have been forced to take down all copies of his work from my site. In response I have started to develop a strictly Public Domain / Open Source Drawing book site which is located at drawingbooks.org."
If you're on Facebook, check out also some of the hyper-realistic charcoal drawings of some of Ani Art Academies' apprentices, graduates and teachers:

Ciao Maria
I like Nicolai Fechin's style of drawing.
I adore this sense of loosing edges!
Those republished books are hardback, fairly large format, wonderful quality and they all seem to be about $25 each no matter how many pages.

"Here is a great website for those of you who like to practice gesture drawing, introduced to me by my brother Joe Dillon. An excellent way to warm up before working from a live model or brushing up on anatomy in perspective. http://www.posemaniacs.com/blog/thirtysecond"
That link is in Japanese, but I think you'd get the gist of it.
Here's the English version: http://www.posemaniacs.com/.
Also check out posemaniac's videos: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=posemaniacs&oq=posemaniacs&gs_l=youtube.12..0.261.3923.0.6994.4.4.0.0.0.0.588.1231.0j2j1j5-1.4.0...0.0...1ac.1.BrVvSYT7aZg
I can still download from that website, can't see any restrictive warnings.
Wait, Just tried the above link I supplied and it generates a spam warning.
I must be using a different link these days. Anyhow thanks for finding the new ones.

The first art instruction book I ever bought was "Richard Schmid Paints Landscapes" I bought is for $14.95 and it is a first edition as is the second art instruction book I bought "Richard Schmid Paints Figures." I had no idea who Schmid was back in 1975 or that these two books would be worth what they are now. I have all of the Schmid books in first editions and two "Alla Prima" books on a limited first edition, signed and in a case, and the other a first edition regular one for reading and learning. I also have his "Landscape" coffee table book. I have taken two workshops with Schmid, one for a single day and one for five days. He is a wonderful teacher, if a little dramatic at times with some of the final florish's with his brush for the finishing stroke to a demo.
I wandered off the road and topic here, so I apologize and suggest looking on Archive.org or a library website and see if they have the Schmid books for downloading. I know Archives has the Loomis books and other out of print books. I have not looked for them, but it maybe another source for some desirable books that are long out of print. http://archive.org/
