Portrait of a dear friend

Nice portrait. The gate, because of its intensity and clarity of line appears to be the focus of the work. Your dear friend is so anemic, I recommend some iron tablets and a few hours in the sun to fix his chalky complexion.

I also see the bleaching and flattening effect of a photographic flash, used too close to the subject.

I am by no means an expert but the back ground is fighting for attention with the face. The face needs more darks.or tone ...easily fixed...good so far :)
  • well, the gate is significant, as it his his garden gate, and that's the last time his mum saw him before he departed. Poor lad, he was looking very pale ,maybe I should put some more dark reds before I post it off to his mum.
I wanted to keep it a little bright so it would lighten up a dark room.
