sorry it's been a long time since my last activity. I hope all has been well. last night i finished the Dead layer portrait of my grandmother. I am still using the 7 Layer flemish technique to paint all my portraits. Here is an update of my progress. Thanks for looking

@robert: the actual photo is a black n white from 1930, those lines are the only ones that pop out much, if I add a second dead layer in addition to the color layer, those lines will be more subtle. There are more darker shadows in the face I have yet to add but they are sooo soft in nature they will barely be noticeable.
Have you ever tried Mark's technique? If you've ever seen his work ...his skin tones have a wonderful luminosity....
it would be interesting to see you paint a portrait of your Grandmother in Mark's technique and one in your technique.. then compare...see if there's much difference.
Anyway...you have the makings of a fine piece of art...anxious to see your progress!
