Yes, there is an iridescence to many fish, which can be hard to create with paint.

thanks for your comment everyone…here’s some answers

Stoney beach is 4”x6”. Mackerel is 2.5”x3”…they’re tiny gouache sketches.  Fun to do, only take 1/2 hour or so
