Miketoxic artist curse syndromeThis syndrome is an artist’s blessing syndrome (ABS).ABS drives me to improve. ABS means I can never be content with what I have done, or what I’m doing. Without ABS the result would be mediocre and the trend would decline. ABS is the energy to critically examine, identify problems and do something to fix them. ABS prevents me from complacency and a false sense of artistic skill. Far from toxic ABS is a tonic pushing me to achieve better each time I pick up a pencil, crayon or brush.Appreciate ABS and use it to build and grow your art practice. Wake each morning knowing your friend ABS will always be there.Denis
As you are building the painting, it can look quite ordinary. Keep going. Tendency
to get lost and ‘fiddle’ and paint without thinking during this phase. Stop and
come back to basics – drawing? Tone? Colour? Vibrancy? Confidence is important
in the process to push through this.
