Pears .. what else?

Hello everyone

After a long time of not painting , I’ve been at it again .
I have tried not to blend tooooo much .
For the greens I used ivory black and cadmium yellow, added some burnt sienna and dioxazine purple . Just a tiny bit of ultramarine blue .
And then some burnt umber . That’s it .

I hope you are all doing well . Thanks for any comment ..

  • Hi Annie
Good to see you're painting again.

I like your composition, it makes me think of 3 birds on a telephone wire.

Your edges are very clean and your values look spot on.

How did it feel to be be painting again and what are your plans for your art?
  • @Annie

Good to see you back on here Annie.

These look crisp and delicious. I like the blueness of the shelf too.

     :)
  • Great to see you back here, @Annie:)

I love this one. The grey background really gives a feel for the space in which the pears sit and your colours, values and edges are beautiful.  I feel I could reach in and touch those pears.

    Thank you so much !
I see it , the birds on a wire .

It was good to paint again . I noticed I wasn’t worried about messing it up . I think I got more confident , thinking I can do this .

For now I don’t have much plans. Just enjoying it. Some paintings are at my chiropractor’s office ( which is kind of cheating as she’s my friend ) and then every once in a while I am allowed to hang some up at the coffee house. And I have a few at my dentists office next month , in the waiting room .
Makes me a bit nervous but also happy .

    Thank you , Michael ,

The shelf is neutral tint plus Flemish blue with some  titanium white . I’m trying to recreate a purple I made last year and I can’t remember what I used but it comes close .

  • Hi Annie , love your pears and I too think that blue really shows them off. @Annie  it’s good to see you again.

  • Beautiful painting! The pears look fantastic, do you think there could be some variation in tone within the stems? Are you using a straight ivory black for the stems?
    Annie
  • You just keep getting better and better!  It feels good to see an artist make such progress.  Your composition and lighting, values and color is fantastic.

  • So wonderful to hear that you are in good health now, that is such good news!

  • @Annie, really great that things have changed and you got the green light.

Permanent green light and a touch of cinnabar   :)

Perhaps a tiny bit of purple and ultramarine .
I do love cinnabar for my Granny Smiths!
