The past month I’ve had an intensive digital painting session using ArtRage. I have found that for starting artists wanting to learn real paint, it’s so efficient to develop your own visual language. By being so fast, each painting was at most two hours, it really allows to increase the working rate and progression rate. Mixing and sculpting can be mastered later with real paint once obtained a reasonable understanding of all other numerous skills that painting requires, ans that are not related to applying the real paint.
I find that most debates on digital art are about is it real art or not, but not so much about how valuable it is as a learning tool to learn specific skills of traditional painting by increasing productivity and convenience.
I think I have found a style that I like, I need to apply this to real paint now.
Wow, I who usually prefer tighter realism am blown away. I love the style and you executed so well. Very impressive with weightous atmosphere and light.
Thanks. One of the most valuable tip have learn from Mark is about keeping the abstraction. I am trying to figure out my own way to express that. I have been very inspired by Richard schmid style lately, he has a very interesting approach to the landscape.
