It's been a minute since I've posted anything on this forum. I do stop by from time to time to check out the new works here. Always a pleasure to see new artwork from passionate creators here. Some really awesome stuff here. This is a self portrait painted in oils looking in the mirror on 8"x10" canvas.

I like the rawness and immediacy of this the way we can see the toned ground beneath the painting is very effective.  I think the background works fine.

Good use of light and shade to contour the face and create uncertainty for the viewer to resolve.
