Hi again DMP friends! Hope you have all been well and keeping busy with your brushes? Just wanted to share these new paintings with you. Both were painted from photographs as usual, but I always try to pretend I'm working from life, hoping I'll capture something of nature in it. The woman in the blue sweater was painted some weeks ago and the other one just the other day. My aim was to create images that capture a feeling or mood rather than merely a collection of cold facts. It's just the way I personally like to work. Hoping you enjoy them.

I am not sure about the first one. I like the reflection but I do not see the roses in the reflection. I think I might like it better without the roses. The figure, chair and reflection is perfect. The roses are fighting for attention from the figure.
adridri, I achieved the atmosphere in the background by first brushing on a pale blue color using black blue and white all over with vertical strokes, then worked some greyish tones into it with the palette knife sliding it sometimes upwards and sometimes sideways. Thinner lines were achieved by using the side of the knife. I don't use the knife much so I'm still learning.
GTO, I agree. I was actually debating it in my head about putting them in or not because I didn't really like their placement in the photo. Perhaps adding an extra branch a bit lower down might help, so it doesn't look too much like they're growing out of her shoulder.
I didn't notice the roses until you mentioned them. Now they take away from the stunning line of the neck that you have created. The painting doesn't need the roses and adding another branch would add to the distraction.
Nothing really to add, I just enjoy looking at the paintings.
Excellent!
