Long time lurker signing in to help a guy with his drawing’s head size problems. It’s the best I can do for now as I haven’t started painting yet and will have nothing but questions there for a long time.

Thank you all for answering so many of the things I’ve wondered about the DMP method so I can head some things  off at the pass when the time comes.

Thank you, dencal, I’ve learned a lot from you! 

I have most of my DMP tools and paint assembled but I’m still looking on line in the US for those 10ml plastic cups like you use to keep paint mixes in. Brilliant idea!

Hi @Suez … do you mean the 2 oz portion cups with snap lids? I got a 100 pack off Amazon , which should last me the rest of my life! They are like the salad dressing cups you get at take out restaurants. I have my DMP paint mixes in them for about 1 year now and they are still going strong. Look under meal prep containers.

Thank you for that but they don’t look sturdy enough to pile into my stuffed fridge/freezer where they will probably live. 🤣

Denis, Thank you. I’ll go with the Dick Blick ones. 

I see Blick has the new Stonehenge oil painting paper in stock. This is going to be an expensive order to save up for.

 I’m restricted to delivery services now and the stores you mention don’t have anything comparable locally in their inventory apparently.

@suez I though so at first too… but for me it’s just a “holding mix” of just the primary colors and  I don’t put all my tube paint in them. Also I use a contained palette for my color strings for my painting I’m working on. Thanks to @tassieguy … his suggestions helped me organize it 👍🏻. Another thing that has really helped me is using a brush dip.
 that “first attempt “ can be the hardest but once you get into it it’s really enjoyable  .

@ArtGirl,@jay80, thank you! @joydeschenes,thanks. I do have a container of Geneva brush dip but the brushes my hand will have to guide will have to wait until I’m up and about more. Grateful I can draw while in bed for now.

@Suez hang in there… planning a painting and drawing and being on here will get you up and going, it’s healing for your creative side.

@joydeschenes, I hope you are right. It’s not that I’m not inspired. I am doing notan work, doing a lot of work in my head, watching great artists work’s videos, etc. I have also found I can see color better just by studying it in real life without doing anything about it. Should give me a leg up later.

@Suez I watched an interesting video this morning called “Tim’s Vermeer”  I found it pretty inspiring and exciting to see how they pulled off a copy, scientifically. It was a fun watch on Amazon Prime.
I just retired 2 years ago and took back up painting with an attitude that I’m in it for the enjoyment of the process. I also have been working on site drawing ( taking Bargue drawing class) and color matching to train my eyes.
