I am working on this, only 50/50 relying on a reference. Seems a bit simple, which is kind of what I wanted. Not sure how to finish it off. All thoughts welcome.
@MichaelD I tried to keep it simple .. not sure if too simple. There are a few details I want to fix later, but to be honest, kind of stuck if I should leave it 🤷🏼♂️
Normally I follow reference photos really closely, here I didn't. Harder to judge when done.
That’s an interesting frame. Works well with the painting. Did you make the frame? looks like a gold leaf sight line. The outside edge looks like a 1/4 round with a flat top edge with gold leaf.?
@GTO thanks! Yes, I love the frame, it was made by a craftsman and his lady in St Petersburg. I was lucky to get these out of Russia just before imports were barred. The gold leaf is on the inner well and the outer - quite pretty!
@Mio your whole body of work is truly exquisite ! Your gorgeous still life paintings belong in the Farnsworth Art Museum; they all remind me so much of the Wyeth line of work! I literally could spend an hour looking at this! just lovely!
Gorgeous… I’d love to go see it. Do you paint from life or photos?
Thank you --- I only paint from photos. I don't really have the time or desire to make my own setups; this is maybe why I like to just paint my surroundings that I find out there somewhere

It looks finished, are you looking for suggestions to add something ?

Nice job.

just lovely!
I ended up re-framing this, and am donating to the Frilandsmuseet. Anyone in Copenhagen can see it there soon
