This is an ambitious piece. I am not sure if it is your photo or the painting but the table appears to lean to the left.
The basket and the white cup above the basket are perfect. The bottle yo the left and the dishes above are not as realists as the cup and basket. But I am not sure how to change that? If maybe the highlights are too bright or maybe there are mid tones missing. I don’t know. Im not sure about it. the reflected light on the front of the table is distracting. I would tone that down some. I know it shows off the wood grain but I don’t think you need that in this painting so much. I think if you tone that down the table top is going to show off much better.
You made some really good changes to make it a better painting! The photograph is perfect for a photo, but for a painting it's good to analyze what needs to be removed. Well done!
Just seeing this now!!! Wow, I’m simply blown away!!! Talk about taking a very simple subject and making it into an exquisite piece of art at which one cannot stop looking. I love it! Although the edges and lines aren’t rough like his, your beautiful work reminds me a lot of Andrew Wyeth! So beautiful!
Really cool perspective/angle, light coming in from the window, so nice. Love the age/history speaking. I (a novice), think that the highlights on the glass vase are too pronounced perhaps? But that's the first thing that came to mind when thinking about what I would do if I had painted it. (wish I had!)
I like the frame choice. Is that another St Petersburg frame?
Yes it is another one of those ones -- actually I bought the frame and found a scene that I thought would suit it. Seems to have turned out!
@whunt yes maybe, I had a bit of a tricky time controlling some highlights, they are very tiny. I will do this scene again sometime from another angle and make a few changes, probably will even swap out the bottle for a little red cup that I like (borrowing from another scene).
That's awesome, congratulations! Thanks for sending the link to view all of the entries, so many excellent paintings making your award that much more impressive.

Yes the level of talent there is quite high! I have been rejected from this show before
And thanks everyone, I was surprised when I got the email
Congratulations - well deserved. I do love the frame within the frame. With that painting it feels like there is a 3 dimensional hole in the wall and there is a miniature kitchen in the hole.

I really like your Frilandsmuseet series.

Some of the problems are from the photo of the painting. Bottle is not the best, but if I fiddle any more, I will make it worse.
btw painting size is small, 24x38cm (9.5x15 inch).
Here is the actual scene. Obviously I made a few changes.
Great work!
I decided to put it up, in case someone buys it at exhibition later this year. Some enjoyment first!
