Watercolor painting before oils...

Before I started painting in oils I painted in watercolor and acrylics. In watercolor I painted with a earth color dominant palette. Most colors were some earth color value combination tinted with a color. My earth colors consisted of Raw Umber, Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Neutral Tint, Davys Gray and Paynes Gray. I have many colors. A lot of greens, blues and reds. But I was painting in tinted values.
The simple tints gave the impression of color. It worked really well for watercolor. WC allows for lots of tricks to create interest. I tried to carry this over into my first oil paintings. Oils cry for color.
I found this file this weekend. Painted in 2004. Watercolor on 4 ply Strathmore 500 Bristle Plate Finish paper.
