Such sums are not about art but are about speculation and greed on the part of the already ridiculously rich. VVG must be turning in his grave. I wish these wealthy people would spend money on new artists. The dead ones don't need it. If Vincent had been able to sell his work when he was alive he would not have suffered such privation, may not have gotten so ill and may not have died so young.
