This is the last in the big seascape series that I've been doing for my exhibition this year. So relieved I'm done with the series. It's still a WIP and not yet dry so if anyone has any comments/criticism/suggestions I'd love to hear them whilst it's still wet and easy to scrape down. There's a lot of glare in the top third of the picture. Will take a better photo when it's less glary and windy outside.
Thanks for looking and commenting.
Rob

After doing 12 big ones like this I'm pretty much over seascapes. But that's just how I feel right now. I'm sure I'll do more like it. The seashore is one of my favorite subjects. It offers endless possibilities in terms of composition, colour and texture.
Glad you think it works.
Next year I'll be doing a series of the mountain that towers 4500 feet above Hobart as it appears in different seasons. It's under snow for six months and I'm looking forward to exploring those gorgeous blue shadows against bright white patches of sunlit snow with subtle warm reflections of the landscape around them.
Superb
Congratulations.
You definitely have your own recognisable style and mark, thats such a great thing.
@HondoRW, yes, definitely taking a break. @anwesha, I'll remember to take some photos of the paintings in the gallery this year.
Thanks again, everyone.
Beautiful and intricate series.
Powerful. Every one of them.
What is next for you when this exhibition is over?
@Dustin_Cropsboy, after the opening night I'm going to take a month off and just do small paintings for pleasure and learning when I feel like it. No more daily sessions of 12 hours standing at the easel for a while. Also, I'll be making trips up the mountain to gather material for next year's show.
Thanks again everyone for your comments on this painting and the series as a whole. Feeling nervous about the opening night on Monday.
Your exhibition will be an unmitigated success. Absolutely no doubt about that.
There weren't as many people there as last year. It was a stinking hot day here and them it rained - very steamy - I think that had something to do with smaller crowd. Still, seven of the 12 sold so can't complain. And the show is up for three weeks so more will sell in that time. I thought the paintings looked good on the white walls and I was really happy with the dark frames.
I took these pics early before people started arriving. They give an idea of how the paintings look on the gallery walls.
Now I can start getting ready for next year's show. Thanks everyone here for your feedback and encouragement over the last year.
I've no doubt they'll all have red stickers before the show is over.
Thank you for posting these pics ,Rob. The nearest thing most of us will get to the real thing.
Congratulations ....... the frames really suit the paintings so well and show them to full advantage.
I'm really excited about the next series now but must force myself to take a bit of a break. But painting is really all I want to do these days. If I have a picture to paint I'm happy. If not, I mope about the place like a miserable old dog.
Thanks for all your generous feedback and unfailing support over the last 5 years, Hilary. It's meant so much to me. I couldn't have painted at all without Mark's freely given knowledge and what you guys give so generously here at the DMP forum.
Congratulations its is so well deserved.
I hope you enjoy a good break too.
