Hello I am from the north of England and have been painting since I retired a couple of years ago. I have struggled with oil painting but I am slowly getting better. I find the tutorials very useful but I sometimes have a problem mixing colours (might be because I am colour blind). I draw as well (pencil/charcoal). I am a member of a local art club who have weekly portrait and life drawing sessions but these are not running at the moment because of you know what. I need to talk to other artists (I am not on social media) so this forum should be a great help. I will upload my most recent painting later today.

I am another retiree who took up painting a few years ago. I've benefitted greatly from Mark's free teaching and from the support of the wonderful members on this forum. Welcome.
Welcome to the Forum.
Love life drawing and go weekly. All I can produce with the shorter poses (2 or 5 min) is garden mulch.
I use newsprint (about 20 c each) and conte crayons so I can knock out about ten or twenty gestural sketches, not worrying about the cost.

If you are in fact colour blind or 'colour deficient' as they call it then I sympathise with you as I am around 70% colour deficient myself and mixing colours is very confusing indeed.
I wonder if you have heard of Enchroma glasses?

I got a pair around 5 years ago and I cannot tell you how much they blew my mind!! It really was like seeing for the first time.
