Using Paper Paint Swatches To Practice Mixng Color

Does anyone see a benefit in getting a bunch of those paper color swatches from the paint section of the Big Box stores and using them to practice mixing paints to match the value and tone of the swatch? For example, if I am painting a portrait or landscape, selecting swatches from the major color groups to practice matching value and tone might be good preparation. What do you all think?
