@GTO, you're smaert and then some. to me russian is simply the peak of art regardless of the medium. i know Levitan. a bit too ridgit for me. solid realism though. I like a bit more softness create by the means of those harsher strokes rather than have harshness created through harsh means! try vasili viereschagin or something like that a few words here and there wrongly spelled! truly though if they were russians "mostly jewish" don't know why, during the later part of 1800s they were gods!
@shahin I like that kind of realism of Levitan. If I ever loosen up Levitan would be an interesting direction to go. Right now I’m just trying to paint what’s in front of me. That’s hard enough.
I had to go back and check out your coffee paintings. I’m working on a painting that has a bunch of ellipses that’s a bit of a challenge. I liked the ellipse you had in those. You made them look great with what looked like direct quick brush work.
