Hey there everyone... just encase you all think I have been goofing off... here is my current wip... size is 24 x 48 on linen.... it is specifically for above my fireplace ...this one I am doing for my husband. Many of you know he is an avid fly fisherman and a river scene is something he will enjoy. My goal is to try to keep it as loose as I can and not be so detailed... so far I am liking it.
I waited as long as I could to start this because I was hoping the lesson on landscapes would be released and I could apply some of what I learn to it. Guess I will just have to do another later on.
Will update from time to time.

Looking good.

Looks fantastic so far. Did you glue linen to a board or is that stretched?
@jcdr ... I think he will really like it too. He was suprised when told him I was doing a painting for him ( well.. for us!)
Thanks Castillo and Cin-D !
@Ronna ...I bought a stretched linen for Utrecht ... 24 x 48 with shipping was 127.00 I know it would be less expensive to stretch my own but I truly have no desire to do that and no space to store all the supplies that it would entail. Convenience can be costly!
@gus... Donna what a lovely thought to convey to me ... thanks!!
The no blend technique is working so well on the background leaves and trees....which is so difficult to paint...can hardly wait to see another completed beautiful Seput painting....your so good Shirley!
I can really see where the No Blend Challenge helped you in this one!
@Harrell ... what a lovely thing to say to me... thank you!
@jcdr ...Thanks!
@Marcus ...when I first joined the old forum I found it very helpful to follow wip's... I still love following them today... so glad you enjoy them too.
@opnwyder .... here ya go.... I am making some changes from the orginal photo.. hopefully for the better!
@Marcus That is a project I have not considered..... and will probably never do. ;;) But I think it is awesome that you would like to see it!
@jcdr thanks! I am really trying to make enhancing changes.. and I am enjoying it too!
Thanks so much @cwwheelock, @elena, @Robert and @tjs.. really appreciate you kind words!
I am hoping to get it completed this weekend.... the water is an area I plan to change... I have spent many hours on the river and think I know how I want to go with it... I think I will just jump in and do it my way! What the heck! ;;)
Hard to get a good photo on such a large piece without glare ... may try again tomorrow.
If you asked him how he does it he would probably say he feels it in his water.
The soft edged rapids look a bit misty.
An excellent landscape.

I like that ripple of water in front of the rock on the left. The reflections are beautiful too. Fantastic job on this.
@dencal I know he automatically views the water as if he is figuring out where the fish are.. so he reads the water's motion and pools... when I would fish with him he knew exactly where I should make my cast... very helpful! Thanks for your comment Denis.
@jcdr James, everything you commented on were things I strived to achieved... thank you!
@Ronna thanks so much... I can't wait to see the landscape lesson... wonder what I would have approached differently.
@garrykravit @LizONeal Thanks for you nice comments on the painting.... Yes I was home but did not witness the actual crash... I certainly saw the aftermath... very disturbing. The airport was shut down for hours and late yesterday limited flights were allowed in and out. They changed the flight patterns because of the closed runways and now I have planes overhead a which I never have!! Scary on all accounts. Poor people involved in the tragedy .
I'd be the last one in the world to start jumping on the "pilot error" bandwagon ... but in this case it sure smells like it.

This is truly above all one of your best Landscapes. Floored over here. Extremely Gorgeous!!! Stunning work Love! =D> =D> =D>
and must say...it was worth the wait....Awesome, Beautiful, Peaceful...your best landscape ever....congrats!
@Savannah thanks so much!
@opnwyder lol Scot.... this one is staying with me! Such a nice thing for you to say thank you!
@garrykravit ... air traffic is back to normal this morning... all but one runway is now open. Plane is still on the tarmac ... such devastation it is amazing so many survived.
When flights were rerouted... they did indeed fly directly over our house and down onto the runway.. at times I felt I could reach up and rub the belly of the plane... it was so close it was frightening. Thank goodness that is not the norm!!!
@LisONeal you crack me up... I forgot how you had to trudge up the driveway!! I am so use to maneuvering the drive way now I could do it blindfolded... well maybe.
Visual poetry with light and color. Well done!
Denis
@Harrell .. So does my husband... him I mean! lol Do I remember correctly and your name is Sue?
@sue_deutscher ... thanks Sue... I appreciate that!
@dencal .. Denis what a lovely comment.... thank you!
