Landscape tutorial wet on wet?

Question about the landscape tutorial video thats for purchase on the website: is Mark painting on a wet or dry canvas?

  • It's a dry canvas but wet in wet technique or ala prima. it means he's painting in one layer a wet color next to another wet color. No layers or glazes as the old-world traditional methods.
  • Having started painting from Bob Ross, I can say the alla prima concept was kind of confusing for me at first. He also calls his method wet on wet but he is immediately and literally painting wet paint over a wet base he calls liquid white. Most non-Bob Ross painters who paint alla prima will paint on a dry canvas like @BOB73 said. You might paint over previous layers after they have dried some but usually it is not while they are still wet to the touch. Somebody correct me if I am wrong on that.
