@Forgiveness not at all! because I'll spend my time in the office. No leaves. My in laws and wife will be there. let's see if I could sneak out on a Saturday.
Cards et. al. Look great. Won’t the artists be expected at the opening?
@GTO actually too many things happening at the family front too. During the second I'll be in Kolkata due to my father's spine surgery. My sister in law will take charge then. She's getting engaged during my first. So cant do much except increasing my numbers.
It's wonderful: the show, your cards, your paintings, getting an audience and making all of it a family project. Good luck with your Father's surgery and sneaking out to be at your show.
Got the idea from my two exhibitions. It seems that realism is not understood in India. Smaller promoters are flashing home decor kind of modern art and big places understand unique style of creation. Mine I'm sure not even got noticed I feel a lot of hardwork is needed from my end to make people understand about realism here!
Anyway here are some images. My sister-in-law was kind enough to represent me there.
they dont understand realism because all the art world seems to be oriented on "impact" and "emotion that last 30 seconds"...your work is a window on Reality, I cannot be bored looking at it... congratulations for your show:)
Thanks @Bobitaly there are some good works there I reckon but it leads me to think whether to go Maxfield Parish's way to gain more spectator! Lost all the spare money in the last four months too; A dangerous hobby that I'm into!
People’s preference for art is different in different places and venues. That doesn’t lessen the quality of your work. I have a friend who sells at art fairs and it took a while for him to figure out which venues he could sell in best.
Awsome photos, thank you so much for sharing. I have a lot of work to do to have realism be more widely accepted where I live too. However I believe that I just created a breakthrough for myself, and this breakthrough consists of simply appreciating what is at hand for me everyday including my most immediate surroundings inside and outdoors (my city, my neighborhood, the street). In my case it's about the act of appreciating the present moment no matter where or what the subject may be. And to have these paintings express that sense of appreciation. So in the end it is the act and sense of appreciation is more important than the painting. In turn the painting serves as a reminder to really see and appreciate what I already have inside me and what already exists right in front of me. For me it means being very honest, unique, authentic and genuine, this is the most challenging because this rarely gets looked at and is challenging for others to make sense of sometimes, but a good healthy challenge anyway. Yesterday I was outdoors taking photos for new paintings in my neighborhood, and now the whole neighborhood knows, lol! and now the pressure is on me to do well, and simply try my best. Just keep on painting, no worries.
@GTO thanks. Yeah. The place where I'm exhibiting now is a place to get noticed. It seema that there is a slight change needed in my creativity. Maybe more flashy. Need to think about these things.
Great sculptor Mr. Ram Sutar came to see. At 95 working relentlessly with the government on gigantic projects. World's tallest statue is also his creation. At this age he's present in all the exhibitions at AIFACS and other places. Received words of praise on my paintings but unfortunately no photo evidence.
That's an honor to have such a great artist to come and visit and praise your work, congrats! Amazing that he is 95 and a sculptor, he looks awesome! Wow!
@Forgiveness yeah...very few people can do works of such scale at this age. We have a political park designed by him in Noida which is like gigantic. But the tallest staue is something else. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statue_of_Unity
