my name's Ian, laughing cricket is sort of a good luck charm...
I studied at SAIC during a rough patch in their prestigious history, and was unable to survive in Chicago at the time. I have since taught myself through trial and error. I started painting with pastels around seven years ago, and discovered that I could just flow with my process. I learned so much from pastels and I love my pastels, but I started to feel drawn to oils again.
I'm disabled now so a lot of my painting is done from memory and quick pastel thumbnails. The first piece I did with oils was a appaloosa mare from a herd that used to wander through our yard when we lived in southern Colorado.
