Wonderful. You are a fantastic technician. Now about the composition. In the major dark area, what could be done to balance it somewhat with the main subject? As a viewer, I prefer to be prompted to move my eye around and to the important subject matter. The bold contrast of bold dark background and detailed highlighted subjects is too dramatic. Walk me there. Vague subtle patterns, leaves twigs or large muted colors might be nice. Stand away from the painting upside down. Listen with your eyes. If anything shouts, adjust it until it begins a pleasant visual conversation. This is what I do to find out if I'm finished or not.
