Advice on lettering ?

edited January 5 in Drawing
Im doing the drawing for a still life to paint, the object has lettering (brand/name of typewriter) on it.

Has anyone got advice or top tips on how to get this as accurate as I can ?

Oh and while I'm at it (asking for advice), I tend to do my drawing for a painting with a Faber Castell Polychromos pencil, they are oil based.
I have been advised by an art tutor that ordinary pencil is not to be used as it can cause problems. I was looking at Wetcanvas forum on that and there are many who say they have never had issue with ordinary pencil.
Any thoughts/experiences ?
