Question about bracing stretcher bars

I stretched and gessod a canvas yesterday. Size is 32x14. Today while getting ready to draw on it I noticed that the 32 inch bars are slighty bowed inward at the center... So instead of being 14 inches wide it is about 13.8 inches right in the middle of the canvas.

To address this I cut a spare stretcher bar i had and sanded it a bit and stuck it in the middle as you see in the picture below. Does this seem like it would work as a long term solution? I haven't glued it in there but I easily could.

Is there a better solution? This one is simple and seems like it might work to me but I am probably wrong
