Study of my dog Emma Jean

I've been meaning to paint her for awhile now as she makes for a great subject.

Then just getting all the forms in the right place

Then I just started filling it in. I used to use my palette knife as color checker but now I just eyeball it.

here again is the final painting. Decided to leave the background as canvas stain because I like the sketchy look of it and I think it works with the chunky brushstrokes.

Finished this painting a lot quicker than I had originally anticipated. I sort of just jumped right into it without a lot of prep work which is unlike me. Finished it in two sessions besides some minor touch-ups!
