Help me Obewan, your my only hope.

I need some advice.
I started the painting with only the jar, apple and the glass. Then I added the table cloth, then the handle on the jar and the pear and the other apple.

Everything was honky dory, then I needed to add the shading and I thought it would be a great idea to have the jar back lite.  But, I got was a big jar in the shadow, not a very appealing image.

So, what should i do?
1- Try and re-work the entire painting to get the lighting more to the right to get the front of the jar?

2- Let it dry as is, then cover it with gesso and chalk it up to a learning experience?
I think the jar is too large and should not be the focal point of the painting.

Thoughts please.

Thanks ,
