mineral oil

Is there any use for mineral oil in the studio. i have a couple of pints which i long ago used for the protection of butcher board counter tops. mineral oil is supposed to be totally nontoxic as it is also used for seasoning salad bowls and kitchen applications. if there is a use for mineral oil ( brush cleaning and preservation, general clean up) it might be a good way to support the eco friendly studio? thanks jeff tallman

  • NO NO NO nono no oh no. If you want an eco-friendly studio buy a plant but an artist studio is no place for (M-word) oil. that kind of oil doesn't dry , will never get out of the paint and the paint will never dry. difficult to get out of brushes once there and will effect paint and contaminate your mediums.
