just finished watching part 2 of Mark's Painting Realism videos.
Learned a lot! I had watched the free videos but missed that the procedure is that starting from the darkest value in each color group, you mix a value step and then adjust the color saturation for each step. I was thinking that you looked for individual value/colors in the subject. I would have ended up with spots of color all over the place!
The other thing That had not fully registered is that you keep one mixing pile and as you mix each step you move a bit to the painting palette. It is clear in the free videos, but I would have been mixing each value from scratch.
I have been mixing each color/value as I needed it. Mark's method is very logical.
